Fridge not working ??????

Post by northantsandy »

Hi guys
I have a 3 way fridge in my Autohomes Komet, I can not get it to ignite. I have a spark, I can see it through the viewing hole but it will ignite when I turn the Gas on. Any ideas?

thanks in advance

has it worked on gas before? I know its silly but is the gas isolator turned on under the sink.If it hasn't been used for a while, You might have to have many attempts before it lights to get gas to the burner.
good luck, Lloyd

Hi Lloydy
I didn't know there was an isolater switch for the fridge under the sink. I have used the gas on the cooker quite a few times. The fridge hasnt been used for a long time possibly 3 yrs. What does the isolator look like. Cheers I'll go and look.

Thank you

If yours is the same as mine, pull down the flap in front of the sink [it looks like a drawer but hinges down]. you'll see a gas manifold with 3 isolators on it fridge, hob and propex, should have a little sticker on each one. Turn it on if its off then it might take a couple of attempts to get the gas through. Hope this helps, Lloyd

Have you recently changed the gas bottle? Its unlikly but it may be air in the line that needs purging bfore it will light.

I have never lit the fridge before (bought the van 2 months ago) and Yes i have recently changed the bottle. I can see it sparking really well but no ignition yet.

Hi,

Had this issue myself - could see the spark, and after holding the gas on for a while, could smell the gas coming out, but it wouldn't light.

Whipped the fridge out, and found that a few small pieces of rust and leaves were blocking the jet, where they had fallen down the flue. Gave the whole thing a good clean and it works fine now. Hardest bit was getting the fridge out of its hole.

Cheers,

Alex
