Hello to everyone, hope you've had good weekend of tinkering about...
Finally got my pop top canvass done (at concept pop tops...highly recommended) after replacing the high top with a Devon Moonraker pop top.
Now I find myself trying to figure out the pop top bed and I simply dont know where to start........and i'm full of questions!!
Does anyone have any photos of their pop top so I can get an idea of what the finished product looks like?
Has anyone modified a pop top to allow an adult sleeping upstairs to get out of the bed without having to undo/unfold the pop top bed? I was thinking of cutting a rectangle over the front cab (sunroof size) to allow for this but unsure of what I'll do to the rigidity of the van...??
Any pictures wanted! Please help as I have no idea what this bed is supposed to look like/work.
All help greatly appreciated! David.

The bed in my devon pop consists of 3 square-ish boards, each having a bit of foam mattress stuck to its top surface and carpet on the bottom surface.
The boards' side edges sit on plastic runners which run along the both sides of the hole in the roof.
Each runner has notches into which lumps on the bottom of the board edges drop into, so the boards can be slid along the runners and then stop at specific stable positions.
The total length of the boards end to end about 3/4 of the van, so this allows you to have:
- either the access gap in the middle and a short bed at the front + short bed at the back
- or the access at the back, and a long bed from the front to the middle
- or the access at the front and a long bed from the middle to the back (haven't tried this because the hole in the roof stops at the front seats, which would make the gap so tiny as to be inaccessible)
- or you can stack the boards on each other at one end
- or remove them totally for max headspace.
Can send photos if you want... but may not be able to do them until next weekend now...

Re: Devon pop top bed - HELP! Pictures please....
Really appreciate all the info & descriptions, etc..... I'm still very much confused though.
My roof was cut for the previous high-top in between the middle pillars. Am I right in thinking that I can potentially cut the roof most of the way back to allow for access into the pop top bed from the rear?
If anyone's got photos or even sketches that would be fab!

yep that's right but you must not remove the B, C & D pillar roof bracing, the tin in between can go
the bracing will form a good base to lay the boards on.
