Could someone please help?
2.1 running dg carb.
right, I posted sometime back about the engine struggling to idle. Went to elite to get other problem sorted...ran like a dream and idled perferctly...grrr
now...its playing silly bees again.
In my last post, people were suggesting that from cold it should idle at around 1800 revs. It doesn't. Lucky if I get 1200. Usually around 1000. Yesterday, it refused to idle even when warm!
Right, today took hubby out to show him what it was doing....idled ok on gas...about 1100. But was slow moving traffic for first 10 mins....did it leave the choke on longer??
Then it ran out of gas and I switched to petrol. The van idled perfectly at 900 and stayed there, even in more slow moving traffic. Engine by now properly warm.
got to gas station, refilled.
Started on the key on petrol, pulled away back into slow moving traffic. Switched back to gas....and the minute the petrol ran out, and it was back on lpg the idle dropped to the second white dash above 0.....but it held (had gas been too low to idle when warm previously????)
So, do I
1. Bring idle up on the carb
2. Bring idle up on vapouriser (how??)
3. look elsewhere?
Thankd all
Em

Re: petrol/lpg idle
I had an idling issue on my 1.9 when on lpg, a quick turn of a screw on the vapouriser and all was sorted.
Im sure there are loads of different vapourisers but heres mine

The screw is just visible at the bottom left of the vapouriser behind the wire, mine has a spring in front of the screw.
They need very litle adjustment so if youre going to mess with it dont turn it alot, mine raised the idle by turning it anti clockwise i think.

You're not supposed to mess with those settings.
Em, phone Steve Shaw on Monday and ask him, DO NOT meddle with the presets.

Re: petrol/lpg idle
mine has started doing this, odd thing is it idles great on gas when its foggy or raining but the rest of the time it just stalls,on petrol never a problem. I start the van on petrol then switch to gas as it allways starts first turn of the key, if i try to start on gas it struggles to get going. runs rubbish on gas from bp likes shell and surprise, surprise asda gas
mines a 2ltr cu

Re: petrol/lpg idle
ok folks thanks for the help!
Will up the idle on the carb as per Onion in the first instance, to see if that helps. Will phone Steve on Monday for guidance.
