We drained all the old diff oil out and it didnt have much of a hedgehog on the magnetic drain plug. I was happy with this as a rebuilt diff isnt cheap ether and after the gearbox going breasticles up and the engine etc i was expecting this to be shagged too, but it looks in really good nick.

We next split the diff in two to get to the VC, pulled the old one out and fitted the spanking new one.

Then just fitted it all back and put a new actuator for the front diff lock on. We then got pissed and had a curry.

I was going to do it in situ like on the wiki but i dont know how Andy managed it. It must have been a right pain in the a*** with it still in the van, and to be honest I found changing the VC easier and quicker than doing my back breaks last week.
So thats work done to the van so far,
AAZ conversion with new turbo
New rebuilt gear box
New VC
New breaks
New gear oil and engine oil break fluid etc
Welding behind the cooker units taken care of
Its been a long old slog but I finally feel its got their. As it stands now i recon including buying the van I have spent around the 7k mark all in, not bad i guess for a westy syncro with many new parts. God knows how much it would be worth now but to find one to replace this as it stands you must be looking at 12k+ and i would never be able to afford that so it has been all worth it really.
