How do they strip off the old paint and crap before they galvy them? Acid? You could blast the outside but not inside. Also what did it cost. Wouldn't mind doing that to mine. It would match the rest of the body then.

they burn off the old paint and dip the in a hrydrocloric acid to clean them. then there is a sort of flux that they are diped in, then it is hot diped in the zink (galvanising) at 450degrees c. i made a bit off a boo boo with the cost, i called them and the asked for the weight and they said it would be the min charge of £60 plus vat (£70.50). blasting and powder coating would have cost £45 and the could not do the inside of the arms. i was a bit worried as there was new metle and the welds would be exposed to all sorts of crap. any how the galvanisers min charge is £60 and that is up too 100kg. so in hindsight i am thinking bash plate, prop protection, engine bash plate etc etc.

the company is called midway galvanising based in kent they work 24h a day but the office is open normal office hours, i droped them off mid afternoon on wed and they were ready on fri afternoon, normaly they will do things on a 24 turn around but i said that i was in no real rush for them. very happy with the results. if you do concider doing this rember the bushes will need replacing about £15 each for gen vw ones and there are 4 and they will need to be pressed in, unless jake has shown you his magic tric.

This has got to be the way to go.
I reckon you could get the whole of the syncro suspension done inside the 100kg min.charge - just :ok
