Half way through removing the water pump on my 1982 1.9DG. Thermostat housing is off, now just soaking more nuts/bolts and wondering about the next stage...
How do you get to the nut on the right hand side of water pump? There doesnt seem to be space to get a socket in there and even if there was the crankshaft pulley is in the way. Does the pulley have to be removed.. how hard is that?

pulley has to come off the pump, crack the three m8 bolts with the belt still attached so you have some purchase to hold pulley whilst you get a socket on them without resorting to using grips on the edges of the pulley, the pulley is in two halves, mark the front one so you put them back the right way.
