oil leak

Hello all, what are the most common places for oil leaks on a 1.6 ct air cooled ? i went for a run today and after parking a have 3 different oil patches on the drive, not large but would love to sort it.. :D

If its anything like a 2 litre air cooled it will be leaking from the push rod tube seals....
Mmm what's that strange smell from my exhaust...

Thanks... pushrod tube seals is that a big job to do ? may have a crack at it any tips ? :roll:

not a big job no, you can do it with the engine in and heads on
tubes are available
AGG 2.0L 8V. (Golf GTi MkIII)

Trouble is IIRC the CT ones are the same as the WBX ones and the colapsible ones were 25 quid each... ALthough IIRC someone found a set of cheaper alternatives a few months ago..

Check the oil cooler is bolted down, and the rocker box gaskets..

Park up and place a clean sheet of cardboard under the engine.. where the drips land should be easily tracable back up the engine..

but remember... Aircooled VW's dont leak oil... they mark their spot.... :wink: :lol:
