Water Tap in Camper

Post by mwheatley »

Hi All,

Could anyone shed any light on why the water tap in my LHD Westy (1990) isn't working? It worked about 5months ago (the last time I switched it on) but has stood over winter and not been used (the tap not the van). I have fiddled with the wires attached to the top of the water tank & they all seem to be tight in place. Is there a fuse that may have blown? Or maybe the bit that sits in the water may be broken?

All answers will be of help.

Many thanks,

Matt

check fuse on b pillar behind drivers seat. try tapping the top of the tap too. microswitch could be stuck.

I would check the water pump too....take a voltage reading at the pump with the Tap Switched on. No reading then work backwards to fuses, switches, the Tap, etc, etc.

Hi

I had a similar problem where the tap failed after the "big freeze"......i had to take the whole thing to bits and "fault find"........fortunately the whole unit comes to bits realy easily and is repairable (well mine was) .........good luck

Thanks for the swift replies, sorry about my not so swift reply.....away in van this weekend without water tap! Anyway, tried the fuses & the tapping with a Brummie screwdriver & the whirring noise from the water tank seems to have come back......I don't have water in it at the mo, but will fill it tomorrow & try again......let you know.

Thanks again.

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in sending the final responce to this thread. I checked the fuses & gave the head of the water tap a crack with the wrong end of a screwdriver as suggested & hey presto! It worked.

Thanks for all the advice.
