Hi all I fitted a 1y in August, all fine until today Was driving along, changed down a gear and the engine spluttered and stopped.
The engine turns over ok and will very reluctantly start but only with high revs and theres copious amounts of white smoke and the engine cuts out as soon as I lift my foot of the gas.
Right set engine to TDC with timing mark on clutch, cam shaft is at TDC, but the injection pump doesnt line up with the hole its supposed to so I am thinking that the timing pump cog has slipped putting my timing completely to pot. Have been reading through posts and think I have just got meself in a right old muddle. Do I need to loosen belt and pulley, turn pulley so that locking pin goes in, then do timing with Dti type affair tighten everything up then off I go?. Or have completely messed me head up??
Ok, sorted i think would appear that when I changed the cam belt I had managed to get the cam 180 degrees out the pump no where near where it needed to be. God knows how it has been running. But it is running alot more quieter and smoother now I have lined everything up still a little smokey but will get a dti out in the week to sort that.
