importing a syncro from Sweden

Post by spaceboy1 »

Hi all
has anyone imported a vehicle from Sweden to the uk, i'm thinking of buying a Syncro from over that way and bringing it to the uk.

was wondering would i have to pay any import Tax into the uk, or any fees that i would have to pay, anyone give me sum pointers on bringing a van over, was thinking of getting it shipped over to port of imingham, roll on roll off option.

whats the best way to do this, any heads up would be good.

let me know please

best regards

Paul.

Patrik is good to deal with
immingham is fine, just make sure that you get the vin number off patrik as that will be the password for release, he didn't give it to me, fortunately I had the photos and email printouts and was able to make a pretty good guess at the password so they let me take it away without too much hassle. You'll need insurance and a booked mot to drive it away, best to trailer it out and check it over before mot as you need to sort rear fog light and beam deflectors or rhd lights at the front
all you need are the swedish vehicle v5 equivilent and bill of sale, an mot, insurance and the paperwork to register the import and fill out a couple of forms to import, no vat or anything just the registration charge and at least 6 month road tax, do it at local dvla or by post pretty straightforward

hi bought my syncro off Patrik and he is a top guy :ok would have no qualms about buying off him again or recomending him to anyone buying a syncro. Patrik can also sort out export plates (which incude tax and insurance for a month) if you want an adventure and to drive it home :) which is the way i did it good luck with the purchase
