Very interesting that. It took me while to get the gist of what he was up to - but i think im there!
I think changing the engine is an easier/cheaper option in this country. Machining expertise isnt as easy to find and engines are!

the rest of the engine is normally toasted anyway, they dont like running with the timing out, pistons are also very soft so if they have had a fight with the valves they normally nip the top piston ring up.

Nice to see some good engineering

Nice job, but this guy has removed the inertia ring from the crankshaft damper. 4cyl in line engines require this to stop the crank snapping.

Not all have harmonic pulleys anyway, some have very light weight pulleys but some do suffer from ringing and others dont.beeelm wrote:Nice job, but this guy has removed the inertia ring from the crankshaft damper. 4cyl in line engines require this to stop the crank snapping.
Its not a nice job its pointless, if the pulley has failed it will have caused damage most likely to pistons. If the pulley has not failed there is a cure to stop it happening.

Re: DIY fix for aaz crank noses
My piont is the pulley that is shown is the picture at the top of this post shows a harmonic crankshaft damper, still looks like a good job though
