Mine went through without....as did Hubbies some while back. (Dunno if the new tail pipe sitting on the back seat helped :D )

Honestly, not even an advisory.

Mine droped off on the way for the MOT. The guy failed it even though I know him. He said it was dangerous. Welded on a new one as the studs were shot.

I replaced the silencer and tail pipe as the tail pipe flange was knackered . Thankfully being a diesel it was only a half hour job ,start to finish..Try and do that with a wasserboxer

OK thanks guys, I dont think I could weld it on, Not liking the look of the upstream muffler connection, if that goes bad its going to be can of worms time.

"Exhaust system component missing or incomplete" I think is the phrase we used in the olded days when we had to write out VT30's by hand.

Mine sailed through last year, despite expecting it to fail on lack of tailpipe and some other odds and ends, I was so gobsmacked I actually asked the tester if the tailpipe was necessary for MOT; he said it was not, provided noise and emissions were satisfactory and there was no danger of fumes entering the passenger area, which of course is the case on these vans, as it could only enter the engine bay. That tester had previously been v. hot on bumper end caps (so I'd got them all tidy beforehand - what did we do before gaffer tape?), but this years tester has ignored a missing one!! It's a mysterious business!
PS Does anyone know how to get rid of the maddenning "smilies" to the right of theis message page ?

I'd concur with Dobbin on this. My MOT place doesn't fail on a missing tail pipe either. Some will, some won't.
