Buying a new sound system info?

Post by Jake T »

hello all

i am gonna buy a new stereo and speaker set up for my camper but i got a few question first.

Can i fit any speakers in the doors or do they need to be shallow set? also i was thinking of putting some 6x9's in .. i have seen alot of people cut them into the spot below the back seat/rock and roll bed. is this the best place for them?

and finally if i set this all up to my leisure battery will it run it down super fast? how long would i get?

cheers

jake

I just fitted my I.C.E system in. I fitted 6' in the lower doors. Ok on depth, though make sure the back of the speakers are protected from water running down the inside.

I got 6x9's in the rear, but I chose not to cut into the lower rear seat panel. Instead I purchased pre built 6x9 MDF boxes & then screwed these to my cupboards. I can post a photo up later if you want to see.

In regards to the Leisure battery depends on what amps and power you have on board. I have 2 amps (got subwoofers as well), but am in process of uprating my Alternator to ensure I have enough current being provided!

Hi, I've just put 6x9 JBL's in my doors, the bottom of the door card. You need to cut a little bit out and one screw is only into the door card (back it up with some ply or similar). They have to be fitted towards the rear of the panel bcause of the door stay. Good time to flashband and insulate your doors. Hope the pics help. I have a pair of Range Rover concertina rubbers for the wiring but haven't figured out a good way to route them yet!

Hi Chris

They're the 350mm ones from Just Kampers (they also do a 500mm version). Not bad and they do have a shaped bit of a drinks holder, ok for plastic bottles etc but not for hot drinks. I would probably move them along a bit if I had to fit them again though.
