the temp guage has always constantly sat in the middle. The top up tank level is fairly steady.
Going to work eveything is hunky dory but twice now on the way home the light has flashed and the guage has began to rise rapidly after about 2 minutes of driving making me pap my pants.
I pull over immediately, turn off the egine and check everything is ok. Start her up again and the temp gauage sits in the middle and stays there as per usual.
Could it be a short at the sensor on the tank causing the problem as the coolant level is fine, the system is bled and she hardly loses any water from the top up tank?
PS. 1983 DG early coolant system.
