Not sure if this is a stupid question or not...

I have checked the wiki but cant find anything... sooooo...

How do I know if my van has an electric fuel pump or not?

Hi,

If its a 1.9 WBX then open the lid and have a look in. In the fuel lines go to a round pump bolted to the engine near the distributer then its a mechanical pump.

Not sure about the other engines I'm afraid! :D

As far as I am aware (though someone may be along to correct me) the mechanical ones are round in shape, whereas the electricalun's are box shaped.

Mine is not in engine bay as above (mine an Aircooled) but on drivers side about half way down the van. From the fuel tank, follow the pipe, to filter and then to pump.
