rear spring spacers
right the trailing arms are coming along quite well, but i have anouther question for those of you with a bigger brain (or more experienced) than mine. i have a sorted out some 20mm steel that i have had machined the same shape as the spring plate on the trailing arms. you can probobly see where i am going with this. when i weld this on top of the trailing arm effectivly raising the platfrom for the rear spring.
my question is do or should i also extend the bumpstop by 20mm that is in the middle of the spring platfrom on the trailing arm to mathch the amount that i have raised the platform by. when using spacers this seams to be somthing that normaly gets over looked.
or am i thinking too hard about this

Re: rear spring spacers
Dont have to worry about the bump stops but putting 20mm steel spacers on the trailing arm is not a very good idea. The extra rebound weight it ads to the arms is a lot and the extra work the shock will have to do.

Re: rear spring spacers
so i guss that it would be a better idea to install it at the top end of the spring mount? would it matter it being steel or would it be best to make a nylon type one?
thanks for the advice neil

Re: rear spring spacers
Syncro services do a rear 15mm (22mm lift) Remember the maths for raising your van with spacers, if you want the 20mm lift you will need a shorter spacer and not one the thickness of the lift you want.
P.S thanks for dropping those bits off today i just got in and saw them

Re: rear spring spacers
Steel or nylon. The best thing about nylon is it dosent rust and is a lot lighter than steel.

Just buy a set of aluminium ones from Syncro Services and be done! Save all that messing around!

The rears are silver nylon but the fronts they do are aluminum. I put a front set on the petrol doka and some home made jobbys on the rear and the 35mm rears that came with the kit have gone on the westy as well as the standard lower diesel spacers because it had some front springs on it like you sold to Al and i needed the rear up abit to balance it out.

You are correct Jed. Just looked at a pic I took of the rears and they are Black Plastic ones I got from Buschmiede when I bought the lift kit. Its the fronts that are aluminium.
