I've never had a problem with the thermal cut-out. In fact without removing my Zig and looking I don't know at what point in the wiring it interrupts the supply. However there could be several reasons other than that.

Check there is juice at the hook-up point
Check that the main switch and circuit breakers at the consumer unit (fuseboard) in your van are all 'on'
On the front of the Zig just to the right of the switches there is a 3amp fuse holder. This is the electrical mains fuse on the Zig and this may have 'blown'.

If all these are ok you're going to have to take the unit out and look inside......

There are two internal safety devices on the CF8, one is overcurrent and the other temperature. The schematic is shown below but take care when working on any mains appliance if testing live. If you suspect the thermal switch (available) that is mounted next to the transformer then you need to establish if the transformer is faulty or possibly the bridge rectifier. Faulty Transformers stink like hell, also look for the usual symptoms of a waxy substance leaking from them (a sure sign that its been overheating).
