removing dash air vents?

Post by meehaja »

I've had a search and can't find anything on this? I need to remove the air vents on the dash so that I can finish covering the dash in cream vinyl, I pretty much wrecked the door handles getting them off (prying with a screwdriver is not reccomended) So is there an easy way?

Thanks

Open the glovebox and push em from below is the easiest way I know on the other side there shouldnt be much in the way. U may need to hold the clips back on the front ones, use plastic spatula thingys as this wont destroy them like ur screwdriver attack! :ok

Care to show us some pics and share some advice on how that covering goes? Have half a mind to do mine in black vinyl when the dash has to come out ... again ... to fix the heater blower ... again ...!

Arn't the door handles secured by 2 Philips/cross-head screws?

I'll put up pics and advice at the weekend when i get some time to finish it off.. wasn't too hard, although it took two attempts (and the first one looked better apart from the holes!)

It took me ages to find the screws on the door release handles, they're hidden behind a small plastic tray that I thought was part of the whole lever piece!

I've replaced my forward facing dash vents (fresh air ones). Trick was to first remove the whole centre up-down swivel part - this just snaps in and can be levered out with a screwdriver and then the tabs either side can be accessed more easily. Get your arm up the back, push the tabs from behind and lever with a screwdriver from the front. Push, pull, swear at it, have a cup of tea and they should come out. Removing the glovebox will also help on one side.
