early westfalia fresh water tank

Post by melmelody »

hi all , me again bothering you all with my problems.i have an early westfalia Aircooled pop top and while working on it on saturday it occurred to me that i don't have a key for the fresh water tank locking cap.as i bought the van from a scrappie there is no way of finding the old owner and i doubt if they would have a key even if i could. my question is does anyone have any idea if it is possible to get it open without damaging it? and are they still available? many thanks mel.

My tank is in the cupboard between the fridge and wardrobe. I generally fill it up from there rather than from the outside so I can see exactly how much is going in....

Anyone got a spare (early, under bench) Westy water tank or a photo so I know what I am looking for?

Its the early Joker 2 setup with full width bench.

I believe (but don't quote me) there are 2 variations on the tank, one for the Joker with 3/4 bed and one for the full width versions.

I've got an early 2l Aircooled Joker 4, lift up the full width seat base its under there to the right. You'll see a screw top you can undo and fill from there.
