Re: Germany.. have you started gettin your van ready?
Pete had a little hairy fit this morning at 7am reading this, We're booked in for the 2.4m.
I know we have travelled over the water and over height.
I think it may be time to contact norfolkline now, I think considering the time of year and the amount of us travelling could account for something!?!?!?

Ooops Did I leave a cloth over something,
The rebuilt driveline?
Maybe the brakes - the proper ones. Can't show them properly the shiny will hurt your eyes

Hiya All
Ouch Ouch Ouch is all i can say contacted Norfolk line today as my van is an inch over 2.4m it has just cost me another £80.00 and have had to take a later crossing home. Now booked on 28/04/10 - 8.am -return 04/05/10 22.01
Word of warning the fella i spoke to said if you are overheight you wont be allowed to travel as you have to go on the freight deck so everyone check the hights of your bus as they have not got the space on the freight decks for the 6.01pm crossing
I did offer to let the air out of my tyres but he wouldnt allow that to save me the money !!!!
Cheers

I never seem to get away with anything so i think honest is the best but deffo not the cheapest policy but now ive changes my tickets you can bet your life that they wont check hey ho lol
But now you've said that it was measured without interior in, so may do another measure up and annoy the fella at norfolk line again
made his day a nightmare he even managed to amend someone elses booking instead of mine !!!

Re: Germany.. have you started gettin your van ready?
Eck! Measured ours at 2.35m, now trying to remember how accurate I was
Hope they don't look at lenght, I've added a tow bar mounted bike rack to the list of must take, althought push came to shove im sure we could fit the bikes and rack inside for all the distance involved getting on and off the ferry.

Just booked the outgoing ferry, the website was down so the fella took my details over the phone. He didn't ask how high the Van was and it was a 15 quid cheaper each way. I took his name just incase they say I booked the wrong ticket.

Length? Who asks for that these days unless its a trailer? Height is only relevant when they want to stick you upstairs - sorry the upper deck or with the trucks!

Re: Germany.. have you started gettin your van ready?
Right then, Girls and boys.
I have contacted Norfolk Line this evening.
1. They have told me that even if you are a smidge over 2.4 then you have to go on with the freight. That's it end of, no leniancy. Then saying that last year we were in the freight bit and we weren't over 2.4m. I don't think length comes into it.
2. If, you are booked on a later ferry or an earlier ferry then you can (providing there is space) board on the later or earlier ferry. - With that in mind providing you turn up at the ports in good time you should be able to get the earlier crossing.
3. As for the filming etc, I need to send an email to Doverpax and ask for permission because filming is not allowed within the port due to security, this hopefully will allow one of us to board and film everybody boarding.
