Propex heater not working

Post by binka »

I thought I'd test it before we go away next weekend and it came on, clicked a bit and then went off. I thought it sounded like gas wasn't getting through so adjusted the stop tap thingy on the propex pipe and tried again - this time nothing at all, didn't start up and no clicking. So put the stop tap back to original position and still nothing. The red light on the front of the heater comes on but no noise or starting up. Gas is on at the bottle as its getting to the hob ok.

Any ideas?

1) Are you using Camping Gaz, Butane, or Propane? The first 2 are a bit reluctant if its very cold. If the gas is burning ok at the hob then that's probably NOT the problem.
2) Is the blower working ok? If the leisure battery charge is low, and the fan isn't blowing (or not blowing enough), I don't expect it will ignite.

I think its propane, but the hob is ok. I'll run the engine for a bit and see if that charges the leisure battery up, thanks.

Sounds like it's time to remove the leisure battery and give it a good charge with a battery charger.

My propex system behaved exactly how you described when i bought my van. Hooked her up at home for a day to charge the leisure battery and viola, functioning propex :)
