Parts list for Germany trip

Afternoon All

I don't mind sticking my hand up and saying I'm probably one of the novices of the group travelling to Germany, never driven in Europe before and never had a camper holiday that was more than 500 miles.

I'm looking for some advice from them in the know on what spare parts we should be carrying. I understand there are legal requirements to have hiviz and bulbs but what about things likely to snap, break, split etc that can be packed easily without enormous expense?

We are also heading off for two weeks travelling around Germany and Austria after the event so may have to be more independant with our spares than those sticking to the convoy.

Don't forget that your HiViz jackets must be at hand i.e. getting out of the vehicle to get them is a no-no.
And you'll need a Warning Triangle, spare bulbs (which you've noted already) and a First Aid kit for Germany.

I tend to carry way too many spares even down to a spare driveshaft complete with CVs.

But as a minimum I'd take as spares:
Belts as appropriate.
Bush pack for Alternator
Black nasty tape
insulation tape
fuses
bits of wire.
Crimp + crimping tool
Tow rope
Jack
A serviceable spare tyre/wheel
Tools
Recovery Card and Handy.

Personally, I would be tempted to aquire vehicle specific recovery insurance - glynwoods do it for about £60 and if everything fails and you need repatting then they will do that unlike some other insurers who have been known on this forum to not repat and leave us UK dwellers high and dry in the middle of europe.
Also on the high viz jkt thing, it would be safe to make sure everybody that is travelling in the vehicle to have a high viz jkt. Also it would be good for the little ones who are coming to have one when we are at Mammut Park when they are wandering around.

its a good idea to put the hi viz jackets on the back of your seats as visible to authorities and you know where they are also at least two warning triangles should be carried and also a fire extinguisher is mandatory in a lot of countries generally carry nearly a full tool kit self amalgamating tape is an essential in my book great for repairing waterleaks and some spare hoses usually carry 5l of oil, and a bottle of brakefluid and lots of water, you can always drink it ADAC are the german breakdown assist never needed them but useful to have for peace of mind. Would be on for 2 hi viz probably dave would go for at least one adult and two kids but will let him decide

Excellent, that lists not too bad so far, should have most of the tools around the garage. Was expecting a shopping list of spare parts to collect.

Whats self amalgamating tape? Think the stuff I have is electrical insulating tape which im sure will be handy as well.
