Fitting RHD square headlights to a LHD van.

Post by Mr Soft »

Hi all,

I am looking to fit RHD square headlights to my LHD van (although I haven't got them yet!). The van already has square headlights, so was just wondering whether the mounting bracket is a standard item or whether this is LHD/RHD specific?

Any other tips for fitting these would be beneficial.

Bob

the brackets the same so all you have to do is successfully remove the lhd lights and then fit the new rhd lights into the frames. Top tip the plastic bit that secures the lamp frame is replaceable as seperate part but the whole adjuster may be obsolete so if anything is be broke make sure it's the plastic bit that secures the lamp frame to the adjuster leg.
You may have to readjust the lights of course

They're not cheap if any come up for sale.

LHD ones are perfectly legal to use when fitted with beam benders.

They're obsolete from VW hence why they command high prices if they ever come up for sale.

RHD and LHD lenses are different.
The light beam "kicks up" to the left(nearside)on RHD lamps but kicks up to the right(offside)on LHD lamps hence the need to use beam benders on these to remove the "kick up" so you don't blind on coming vehicles.

The beam benders are available for 3 quid from Brickwerks.....hell of a lot cheaper than fitting RHD lamps!
