Hi,
I own a 1989 1.6 turbo diesel (Holdsworth high top). I have recently encountered a problem with the instrument panel lights not working (not great that this problem first presented itself on an unlit dual carriageway at night!). I should clarify the led's work fine, its the lights for the speedo/clock that have failed.
I have some technical ability, but don't regard myself as an expert re: T25 electrics - hence this post.
I've checked the relevant fuse, and got the instrument bulbs working sporadically. Also, the dimmer switch seems to be dimming the heater control light ok which suggests that isnt the problem either.
My next step is to take the dashboard apart to check the dimmer switch connections to the instrument lighting. Any other suggestions gratefully received!
regards,
Paul Mac

Take the top cover of the speedo head and the 2 bulds in question are sticking up at the top. sounds like may be loose or just old bulds that need replacing. Start with the basic things first as these are the source of 90% of problems.

Many thanks for the prompt response. I've taken out the bulb holders and replaced the bulbs. Problem solved.

Another good thing to check is the earth crowns that can get
corroded & cause allsorts of strange electrical prob's.
They are located on the nearside(L/H side) behind the fuse box under the
dashboard.
The indicators & parking brake warning light were starting
to work intermittently on mine before xmas. Cleaned them up
with a dremel(easiest way in opinion) & sorted that little problem.

You need to check the PCB track under the bulbs, particularly the right one as this loops to the others. The membrane track can get damaged under the bulbs as you rotate the bulb holder.
