solex 34 pict4 idle issues..

Post by dugcati »

Anyone know what the base settings should be for a solex 34 pict4 (A/C1600 carb) - I have had to put one of these on my van to get the LPG plan to come to fruitian and the one I have is set all over the shop. The engine fires up and will run at higher revs (mains) but it point blank wil NOT idle no matter where I set stops and screws.

I went for the old 2.5 turns out from home on the mixture and bypass screws to no avail.

I have heard rumours that Solex carbs develop mystery refusal to idle issues - is this true?

Sounds like the idle control valve is blocked, I get this quite alot on mine, as it brings rubbish up from the tank.

Without a pic its quite hard to describe where the idle control valve is, but standing behind van looking in its on the right hand side, and should be a nut probably 8maybe 10mm with a slot for a flat edged screw driver, simply remove it, clear the hole and that should help

Mine pulls like a train, like one of those toy trains, gets to a slight slope and slows right up lol

well - cleaned out the idle control valve bit and no difference  as said all the settings are all over the shop so without a starting point I think I'm pointing it into the wind a bit so to speak
