Trailer or top box?

Post by joe75 »

Hello all ...

With a new addition to the household we seem to have gained loads more stuff on our camping trips. To try and give us some room inside the van I am looking into getting either a small trailer with a lockable water tight top, or a top box.

The way I see it is.... A top box is great, but it will make putting the pop up harder and once up the box can not be used easy. As for a trailer it might make the van struggle even more and cost more on ferries (?) Plus it makes parking in town harder, but the trailer will be easy to access and could be left on the campsite. I can not put a box on the back as we have bikes there. Could a box be fitted to the tow bar below the bike rack?

Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on which way is best to go?

Thanks in advance :D

I looked at these a while back, don't know if it's any use to you

I think there were quite a few towbar mounted options out there
What a long strange trip it's been

I still have a fiamma box that goes on the bike rack in the shed we used when our little un was tiny you can have for not much if thats the sort of thing that might do you. It was handy for all the pram and baby shnizel that you think you cant go away without. Couldn't find any pictures but you can catch a glimpse of it on our old van in this video from a few years ago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIhgutPMkvw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi Jed,

I would be interested in the Fiamma box if it's still going? How much would you want for it?

Matt

I will dig it out the shed maybe sunday and have a look. I will take some pictures for you as it has a small crack underneath but I can easily repair it and it doesnt effect the operation.
