Loking for a Waters Edge Campsite

Good poeple of 80-90

Im looking for a camping location where I can get right on the waters edge of a lake/reasonable size pond? Any sort of area in the UK, but as long as Im overlooking the water for sunrise/sunset, would be perfect.

Even better if I can fish there too, as the better half can stay in the van and do her drawing/sketching etc.

Also try Fidden Farm, at Fionnaporth on Mull (excuse spelling).
In fact, almost anywhere on the Scottish west coast and islands - if you want to go that far.

Not open till mid March, cracking site but can get busy in summer, you can have real campfires and launch your boat/canoe from the lakes beach.

If you are a member of the camping and caravan club i would recommend Luss it is right on the banks of Loch Lomand.

If luss is full then there is Millarochy on the opposite bank of Loch Lomond. As we found out when we joined the C and C Club specifically to go to Luss. Dont think ou have to be a member for Millarochy but dont quote me on that, as the site is endorsed by them. And you really are on the water's edge and its a bit quieter due to being slightly more of a trek to get to.

If you fancy North Wales there are two sites in Bala right next to the lake. The one is on the north side on the main road out of Bala west about 2 miles, not sure what it's called but it has all facilities & a shop. The one I prefer is a bit more low key on the south side of the lake in a place called Llangower. It's beautiful and you can camp right on the shores edge & have campfires. The name of that site is Pant yr Onnen +44 (0) 1678 520415. You have to book in advance as it is very popular but only about 50 pitches in two fields.

Carreglwyd, on the Gower.
Its best to go in the winter as it gets rammed in 'season'.


Glenbrittle, Isle of Skye. This is one of the wildest sites I've ever been to. Its at the end of about 10 miles of single track road with breathtaking scenery. The site overlooks a small beach with black sand.



Nairn, above Inverness. We actually saw dolphins while chillin outside the van. A 10 min walk takes you to a headland thats the best place in the uk for seeing dolphins, they were jumping about 20 yards out from the shore.



This place is a corker. Seal Shore, Isle of Arran. We would watch seals swimming past throughout the day, we even saw basking sharks about 50 yards out. Down the beach there is a large seal colony mooching about on the rocks.


Not a bad view when yoour having your tea.

That second one is one of our favourites too

The best place on there to camp is near the trees to the left as you drive onto the main site = much quieter and you can park with your wheels in the water if you want to get that close ! Good for bird watching too. Phone them up before you go and mention this club, he knows about us

Free, with basic toilets just on other side of road.
Alongside stream just as it goes into the sea,
Ace, first time we were there there were dolphins out in the bay.
