Hi Guys,
in process of getting my new Cali ready for the upcoming year. Coolant temp gauge isn't working, and I seem to have a spare sensor in the engine bay. Theres a t-piece just as the pipe comes out of the top of the expansion tank with a switch but no plug attached, would this have anything to do with it? trying to get to the bottom of this one before I attck the rich running, and the Buzzer of Doom.
Cheers
Si

Re: '89 2.1 petrol question...
there should be no pipes coming out of the top of the expansion tank.
There is a pipe exiting the header tank.. that has no breaks in it either.
the top of the header tank has a coolant level warning switch.
coolant temp is taken from the thermostat housing sensor, two pin for plastic housing. one for the syncro metal housing
I'd change the sensor for a new one..(pence) first, then work my way up to the guage.
check for gauge operation is to short the sender wires, the gauge should read max after a second or two
