T25 Lacks power, new webbe convertion.

Post by Steve Lunn »

Hi
After much trouble with the stock Pierburg carb I invested in a new Webber convertion. However the engine now.
Run rough when warmed up,
Lacks power at the top end.
Won't Rev

I fitted a new fuel pump also to be on the safe side.

Have you had it setup and jetted properly? Ideally on a rolling road

Hi

It came as a jetted up and ready to go, this was a convertion from WebCon and specifically for this model. So should be ok onthat score?

Webers may come with the correct jets for the engine (often a little conservative but normally good) however they will need setting up after initial install for mixture etc.

Maybe a mobile tune guy in your area, check yellowpages. :D

Never had much luck with the Webers, found them a poor substitute for the Pierburg.
Pierburg isn't without it's problems granted, but better than the replacement Weber by a long shot.
I've fitted a new Weber for a customer, the bolts supplied were too long and they protruded out of the bottom of the adapter plate and ended up bending the adapter to the point of it drawing in too much air, ran like a sack.
Suppler sent a new base plate very quickly leading me to think that there is a known problem with them.
however, once it is on and leak free that is only the start of the nightmare of trying to get them set up properly. They are only jetted somewhere near and only way to get them anything like 100% is a rolling road tune.
For the ones I have seen and had anything to do with I found that they didn't perform as well as the Pierburg, they werent as economical and I tried to get spares for one once

Honestly, stick with the Pierburg.
