T3 2.1DJ fuel breather pipes, hoses and bungs !

Post by robber_roo »

Newbie here so please be gentle Smile

I picked up a T3 2.1DJ on a e plate at the weekend. Filled it with petrol and it pissed out everywhere.Cry

Anyway, managed to get it back to a friends house for some investigation.

We dropped the tank and found that the breath hoses to the expansion tanks were not connected and the hose that runs across the top of the tank wasn't either. The grommets were there but not pushed in.

Anyway after a few hours in the cold it was all rigged up and done. Went for a drive and it seemed great. However the hose that runs on top of the tank, one side to the other, was failing the accelerator cable, this lead to the engine over revving.

Next morning we dropped the tank and tried to re route the hose. It was a no go. As i needed to get home....some 180 miles away, we decided to replace the top hose with 3" hose each side and bung the ends. The hoses to the expansion tanks etc were all connected and bungs replaced.

Well it got me home and went great....

So my question is would it be safe to run it like this or do i need to get the hose replaced asap ?

Thanks... sorry the post is so long and hope it makes sense..... kind of

Thanks

Yeah it was failing because we couldn't feed the hose over the other pipes.

I'll change it over when i get a spare few hours.
