preparing high top

Post by jake1953 »

I'm almost finished preparing the high top ready for fitting. When I place the high top on the van, it's a good neat fit all the way round and see no issues with the tigerseal. Problem is, at the back. The back of the high top lower edge just touches the roof of the van so can't see how the tigerseal will get a grip. The rear corners sit flush and they will seal ok. The roof came with a rubber u-shaped seal on it. Is this whats used? Anyone got tips on how to achieve a good grip at this point? I'm contemplating fibreglassing the rear of the roof to the hightop.

You use it as a sealant as well as an adhesive - when I redid mine there were places where the sealant is 1/2 inch wide. Just run round the inside putting a wide fill in - not just a thin smear as you would if you were gluing it on. It will take a lot of sealant but will never come off. It is meant to be used in this manner.
