Hi all, can anybody recomend any sites near Ilfracombe/Woolacombe area Ta

Damage Barton is a caravan club and caravan and camping club site. Very clean and well run can walk to mortehoe and Woolacombe from here nice walk need to be reasonably fit.

Another site I have used is Warcombe farm. Toilet facilities are good it is very dog friendly with the most amazing dog walk i have ever seen on a campsite. There is a childerns play area with death slide! they love that. All gets shut at 9.30 so sie is very peaceful. Can also walk to Woolacombe from here

There are lots of lovely sites in this area you wont be stuck for choice

Little roadway farm near Woolacombe is alright. It's where the final fling is held. Looks a bit like a caravan graveyard down the bottom though!

We've used the Mitchum's Village site (see Croyde link previously).
Aimed squarely at the younger end of the market who tent and surf. Not keen on vans but have a soft spot for Dubs, limited space. Shower/toilet block only...spotless. Short walk to the town. Loved it, and I'm at the senior end of the market!
Inspected the Mitchum's beach site also, can't get any closer to the beach. Again no facilities but seemed to take a broader family range.
Looked at Surfer's Paradise in passing, didn't ring my bell.
Croyde, lovely place but no free ATM's, take plenty cash, funny I remembered that.

I used to live in Ilfracombe so know the area well, the sites at Morthoe are good some more basic than others, personally I prefer more basic I did'nt care much for the Ruda site, never stayed there but they always looked like they was packed in like Sardines to me, one on the opposite side of the road is better for more space and over the dunes and onto the beach of Croyde Bay. Lobb fields near Braunton is close to Croyde and a well run site. One of the best sites I stayed at in the area was Pool Bridge, just south of Porlock, up on Exmoor. It was very basic with just a small toilet and shower block but you were allowed open fires and a little stream went through the camp which was set in a vally with steep sides and trees going up either side, you could have been in the Canadian wilderness and it had a magical feel to it

Theres also a basic little campsite behind the post office in Croyde. (Little entrance on the left) The site is on a bit of a hill & only two toilets. Cheap though! Good thing is you can fall out either of the pubs & you're home. Oh & the surf is cracking too! Although super crowded

Another good site is at Watermouth Cove, they have a pool but the sea can be reached through a little tunnel depending on the tide. If you walk about half a mile along the coast towards Combe Martin theres a little track that winds down through the trees on the left. After a bit you come to some steps down a steep gradient to the secluded beach below, its one of the best beaches to swim from being in a little bay/basin with plenty of rocks and nooks and crannies to explore

We camped at Lobb Fields in Braunton last summer. It's a nice well run site with plenty of toilets/showers and the electric pitches are a good size. Beaches are very near, and there is a fantastic fish and chip restaurant in Braunton that's worth a visit! Be warned though, Braunton village gets mega busy with traffic at peak times and it can take forever to pass through it! Also be aware they seem to have their own 'micro-climate' there and the weather can be a bit unpredictable!!
