speedo cable

hi , ive just took my front left wheel of to check and fitted it back on as normal but my speedo cable is now making a whinning noise , ive been told this is a common problem when taking front wheel off and to keep re positioning the cable at the dashboard end untill it stops making a noise , this ive done and indeed it does stop for a while but then seems to start making a whinning noise again as any one else had this problem and and can it be over come or do i need a new cable ( it was perfectly ok before i took wheel off for the past 12 months ive had the van)

I've never heard of that before! Very interesting. Is it a whining at the speedo? Maybe give the cable a dash of lube?

My speedo ticks at low speed - i kind of like it.
