They are designed for the voltage that is put out by the alternator - the televisions are not. I've cranked up the voltage on a car bulb to 25v whilst testing things and they don't blow - try that with your 12v tv! :pimp

well the TV works a treat with 14.6v or 13.2v or 12v

I just did a search Mike

bought mine off Amazon £20.

yep the first one is best as you can lock the angle for the rear passengers when driving,

Trouble is the components will not have the tolerance for sustained overvoltage and you will shorten their lifespan leading to problems later. You will cut the MTBF down from the manufacturers specs by 90% (guesstimate) - is it worth it for a couple of squids?

thanks for the bracket info....hadn't thought of that.....but, this is going in the pop top!! So thInk I will go for a wall mounted bracket that allows the telly to fold away to the side.

Metalmicky - thanks for the link - I will have a look and see what I can manage!

A recently charged battery will be 12.8v and then drop to 12.6v over 12 hours. A battery that is being charged by an alternator will show around 14.6 v
