I have an '87 Westfalia pop-top Joker and I want to remove the plastic factory-fitted roof rack which sits over the cab, as the drain holes in each corner of the roof rack get blocked up with seeds and leaves from the many trees which surround my home.
Once I get the roof rack off, I intend to glue pieces of gauze onto the underside of each hole to keep out the afore-mentioned seeds and leaves and at the same time I also want to replace the rubber seal on both the roofrack and pop-top.
There are four round brass caps which I believe come off to enable the removal of the roof rack. But how do they come off? They are round and smooth, with no "slots" in their surface to stick a flat-headed screwdriver in, so they don't unscrew!
I believe the ever-increasing rust spot under the right-hand corner of the windscreen is caused by rain water not draining away properly from under the roof rack.
Any tips or advice on getting the roof rack off would be most appreciated...by me and my Wagen.
