Hi,
I've just had my van tested for a blown headgasket at a local garage and its been confirmed

I'm not sure what to do next really, I suppose the engine needs to be repaired either by me or the garage although they are likely to come up with a silly quote. Its not an old engine (VEGE) and has only done 12,000 miles. I've only had the van for a year and there have been problems with the coolant system throughout that time so I've never really had much use out of it; I'm starting to suspect that the dealer I bought it off may have cobbled the engine together with some liquid glass gasket sealer which has gradually given up. I'm not sure what to do with it next, being an ex T1/T2 owner I'm half tempted to fit a 2 litre Aircooled as I've never been a fan of the WBX but I want to use it as my daily drive and could do with something a bit more economical; I was planning on going LPG soon but that plan is now shot. The other possibility is to consider a diesel conversion and buy a low mileage diesel VW and run around in it whilst I accumulate the other bits that will be needed. I don't really want to go for a subaru conversion as I want to keep it VW through and through, don't know why just one of them things. Anyone got any suggestions?
Cheers
Tim.
