Ok fitted a 1Y engine last weekend and wired and plumbed it in yesterday.
It turned over but wouldn't start. There was no fuel getting through to the injection pump, so I assumed it was a bit air locked. we managed to get fuel though to the injector pump and after a bit of playing around it started to get through to the injector pipes, but still wouldn't start.
We tried some damp start and still no good. The Fuel solenoid must be working ok as there was fuel getting through the injector pumps. And there is power to the glow plug rail.
The engine was complete and has not been apart since being removed from a caddy that was running ok. So can only assume the time is ok.
Only one thing I noticed that i'm not sure about. when I removed the injector pipes fuel came through to 3 of the pipes but one seemed dry. But would has thought the engine would run at least badly, on the 3 cylinders.
The only think i could think of is maybe the glow plugs are no good at all. The engine has been sat around for a few months so don't know if anything has got damaged.
Any ideas or suggestion.

Re: 1Y in but having problems starting
Ok, Ive tested all the glow plugs and there no good at all.
So replaced the glow plugs so i know there ok.
Problem now is ive got next no fuel coming through to the injector pipes.
Im guessing theres still air in the injector pump. Anyone got any suggestions on how to bleed the air out?

check the return/feed to pump, check that the feed bolt has 2 large hole's in it, if there not marked up(IN/OUT) it's easy to mix um up.

Is there no fuel coming out of the pipes at the injector end, or the pump end?
Could be worth making sure that there is 12v's getting to the cut off solenoid, just to make sure.
Have you fitted a new fuel filter?
