1.6 diesel poor running

Post by blue67 »

My van has a 1.6 cs diesel engine which is starting to run badly, and start slowly.

I have replaced the glow plus, and relay. but it is still always reluctant to start. When it does it settles to a nice idle, but when out and about it intermitantly loses power and stalls, and when slowing for junctions, roundabouts etc it also dies.

If it was my bug i would be looking at the fuel mixture and carb settings, but with a diesel i am a little stumped where to start. Would i be correct in looking at the fuel/intake system?

Thanx in advance for all you help and sugestions

Also check for any leaks in the fuel lines, fuel filter, leakoff pipes or around the pump.

had the injector pipes off to do the glow plugs, all the unions are tight but there does appear to be "wetness" around the back of the pump, how would i fix this? :?
