Reimo v Westy conversions?

Post by martinj »

Hi all
Still looking for a nice van but a bit more affordable than the mint Westy we dream of! Wondered what Reimo conversions are like - the interiors seem to look similar to Westys in some ways and I understand they are also German? We need a high top as we've got 3 kids, so the extra storage would be helpful. Looking at photos, the Reimo high top seems to be higher at the front than the Westy high top, does this mean it's got more storage?
Just interested to hear your thoughts if you've got knowledge of both
Thanks again
(We'll get a van one day and stop pestering you all with questions about conversions, I promise!)

Hi there , this one I have for sale at the moment has all the units made from good quality ply and as for the high top maybe there is more space in the westys but not having had the pleasure  I cannot say for sure

A really good feature of the higtop itself is the fact that its double skinned with insulation inside which makes it less susceptible to condensation without the need for carpet type covering :ok

Want any more info/pics of any areas let me know 8) 8)

looks like a really lovely van, Andy. Great pics. Hubby just worried about lack of windows in the high top  Wouldn't worry me as you only go up there to sleep anyway! I presume two can fit up there? And sorry to be stupid, but what does a DG engine mean? Is that petrol or diesel?
JasonK, where in South Wales are you? We are in Newport.

Hi Luisa , afraid the high top on this model would only be suited to a little child unfortunately
The DG is petrol

oh, that's disappointing. :( With 3 kids, 2 adults and a dog we definitely need to put at least 2 up there! Thanks for replying. I'm sure it won't take you long to sell such a nice van

I have a reimo with a side elevating poptop, and you can easily sleep two up there, but you obviously compromise on permanent storage space. You do get a roof rack in the front of the roof, which easily takes an awning and a few stuff sacks. To be honest, two cupboards, a gas bottle cupboard, a wardrobe, the under bed, above engine bay, cutlery drawer, buddy box, shelf above kitchen and section above wardrobe is ample! Plus, Reimos come with a grill so you can tea and toast in the morning!
