electrical gremlins after not using van.

Post by chavan »

Right think i have found the main issue on wiki which an just earth problem(random warning lights on dash and no illumination at night). The one i can't find any info on is the interior lights delay. The lights just stay on which ever way you switch it. The van is a 1990 lhd Whitestar and was wondering if it was just a relay and if so which one is it. I have all the vw manuals but they are all in German. Any help greatly appreciated.

Reading on the wiki there are a couple of Earth crowns screwed to bodywork to the left of fuse box and is prone to light corrosion thus causing problems with electrics. Mine has started since i stopped using it daily. It lost main beam warning light, oil light will come on as will alternator light and now no illumination. had a similar issue a few years ago with another van and a good clean of terminals and i think i replace a few suspect spades(non insulated) and it sorted it all out. Good luck
