my interior pics

Post by D'Squared »

Hi all,

Bought my first bus 'Vinnie' this year, which had no interior in it, and although it was supplied it was knackered and needed totally rebuilding... The us is a 1981 AC Devon.
So we remanufactured the buddy seat, all the kitchen units including doors, and cut up the old rotten table for the remainder of the doors. The unit side panel was an old partitioned wall and the wardrobe door and rock & roll bed storage door was old office furniture.
The only parts we reused out of the original interior was the worktop, 1 cupboard door and the fibreglass wardrobe, we had the rock & roll bed, buddy seat and rear cushion recovered by a friend and bought new curtains.
We put in 240v electrics and access this from behind the rear number plate.
We also added some safety barriers to stop the kids from falling down as was really nervous of them rolling off.

We went away in it this year for two weeks on our 1st holiday and had a great time.

My thanks go to those people who helped me with pics and advise, and a special thanks to my father-in law Dave who master minded all the work.

So here are a few pics of the finished job.

Let me know your thoughts.

Darren

Hi ya, Weve got a 85 Devon Moonraker with the same interior as your's except it's got the Bluey/Grey colour scheme. What you've done looks really great and just shows what can be done with a bit of imagination and little bit of effort. :ok

Ps Funnily my dog is called Vince or at times Vinnie and travels with us everywhere in our van! (thats two things we've got in common)
Its on the road to Nowhere, no one passes by.
No one comes to Norfolk, without a reason why.

thanks for all you kind comments guys...
when we did it i really wanted to keep its as original as possible - especially the colouring.
it took us i think 17 saturdays and monday evenings to do it.... so not bad really and me an the father-in law never fell out over it at all.
the hardest bits were believe it or not putting the edging strips on the unit front panel around the cupboard openings and fitting the curtain track...!
next up body work.....

thanks for the comments guys...

we did use it last year and learnt more about the van to improve it.. kids loved it.

Ref room shuddering, no shuddering, just occasional knocking from up there at the front, think its the bars that hold the roof up, knocking together, but sometimes it doesn't do it... think it depends on how the roof comes down and how the canvas puckers up...
