Which coolant?

Post by mikeymancs »

Hi,

Which coolant should be used in a 1.6 td engine? I have read that the phosphorous type is best for the 1.9 and 2.0 is this also true for the 1.6 TD engine? 1988 .

Thanks

Best coolant for a VW is air.
Martin.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.

I liked camping so much I went full time.

Ethylene Glycol based types (usually Green/Blue) are based on the older less stable formulas and are designed to last 2 years before they start to break down. Long Life 5 year antifreeze's (pink/orange/purple) are based on organic acids and are more stable. VW's own G12+ is the newer variety.
So any quality product but I would be more inclined to go for the longer life stuff myself.
