Front end suspension stripdown

I'm thinking about stripping down the front suspension on the new van because the upper wishbone bushes are knocking. Are there any other parts that I should replace while I have it in bits, to save time and effort later?

I have a pair of refurbished uprights with new bearings and seals. I picked up some new droplink washers.

I might splash out on some upgrades if I can afford it so a pair of 2wd HD springs (green I believe) and Baxters AVO shock upgrade might be sensible to do.

I'm thinking balljoints and other bushes might be prudent, also - but any other suggestions would be welcome.

May as well fork out and have the peace of mind/toys in one go if I can afford to.

do the lot in one go it's so much easier
you've the choice of polybushes or original rubber do the steering rack and joints too and brake back plates/cv protectors etc at same time too and studs longer if required when doing the hubs
refurbish the shafts while it's all off and should be it for a good while

Tempted to hold off a bit and do the entire subframe, upgrades and the front diff (i.e. difflock) upgrade.

I'll get under the new van today and see if it has the AKG kit its supposed to have.

i would tend to agree with adain, in for a penny and all that, i had all the rubber bushes and ball joints and tie rod ends replaced on the the front suspenshion you would be amazed at the difference. it felt like a new van to drive, tight and firm, i used all new vw parts, be warned it gets quite expecive very quickly. from memory there was over £300 in parts. but they should last anouther 20 years.

£300 would about cover the rubber bits etc, but if I can save up about £500 I will do the goodies as well.

Hoping to sell one of the vans over the next few weeks. I'll knock some off the mortgage/bills and chuck a grand at the running gear, brakes and some goodies.

Like you say, it's an investment - but I intend to keep this van for a long time.
