interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
Hi Guys, so in my Standard Caravelle Ive got hold of a multivan interior.
Over the weekend ive installed the fold town table into the pre-existing holes (so not sure if it had this before) and also installed the plastic interior on the same panel as the table. The plastic interior it thicker than the card interior before and therefore there are some square metal extension brackets so that the bench can be fitted to it.
The bench I have is standard Caravelle full width fold down bench, without headrests. It fits full width to the body work. So here lies my problem, I havent fitted the otherside of the interior yet, which also has extension brackets, but if the new interior reduces the space, then how can the bench fit in now?
So my question is, is a Multivan bench with head rests smaller in width than a Caravelle bench without headrests?

Re: interior bluestar magnum refit - bench size
Caravelle and Multivan benches are different.
The Caravelle bench mounts directly through the vinyl panels with bolts and fills the width of the van.
The Multivan bench is narrower and has box section brackets to mount it. These allow the bench to sit inside the thicker plastic panels.
I'd look for a Multivan bench to replace your 'velle seat.

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan - bench size
picked up the multivan bench from the scrapyard bright and early this morning. 100 Euros
Took the bench from the same bus from which I got the interior too. Took the whole interior from that bus (170 euros) except for the multivan back 2 back seats, as I want to have the fold down version instead.
Table Bracket fitted
more to come...

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
OK, so here comes the first problem, not sure if Ive done something wrong or that mounting points are different on a Caravelle than a Multivan, but now they dont match up with the hole in the interior
so either need to cut a hole, or its out of position

They are - you'll need to move the plate - grind off and reweld I think

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
err yeah right, think I will make a hole in the plastic
Meanwhile I decided while Im doing the refit, I might aswell put some insulation in the wall space
and here's how it looks so far

Then the bed won't work - the seat pins need to be in the right position which is different for multivan and caravelle benches

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
i am currently in the process of fitting the same interior but in to a twin slider , going to have to adapt alot ,
maybe even cut the table section out as it will be alot of work to fit into the sliding door !!
also the brackets at the back where your seat pin goes do have to be moved !!
the van i got my interior out of (multivan) had some extra little panels welded on the sides to accomadate theese pins !

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
Well maybe it's possible to make a bracket which will allow the pin to be in the middle of 2 welded ones, kind of like with the rear seat belts or even the extension plates for the multivan bench

has anyone a pic of a multivan pin setup?

Re: interior refit Carvelle to Multivan
ah ha, look what someone has done here
I guess he only had the 1 incorrectly placed bench point (left on caravelle) and therefore made this part to extend.
The caravelle 2nd point (right on caravelle) is very closed to where the multivan is. I will have to try it out first
