228mm friction plate - used elsewhere?

Post by CovKid »

I seem to be asking a lot of clutch questions of late - apologies.

Does anyone know if the 228mm friction plate is common to any other VW/Audi vehicle? :D ie basically same plate?

type 4 engine had um too, Im looking at the moment for my scooby set up

The VW clutches for the type 4 were available in 4 different diameters: 200mm, 210mm, 215mm and 228mm.

Been spending hours cross-referencing part numbers in various places but chances are there will be two identical or near-identical plates with completely different part numbers.

i have used vauxhall astra/cavalier centers from the 80's/90's as the center spline was the same except the plate was a bvit thicker.

1.8 and 2.0 not the 1.3 as spline is different

Thats interesting since you can buy so many clutch plates for half the price of that charged by even GSF. Subject worth probing I think although difficult unless you have a selection you can compare.
