Starting problems
Afternoon people, Could anyone offer any advice on starting my 91 1.9 petrol DG engined T25 after running out of petrol(OOPS).It just doesn't want to no,have changed fuel filter but with my limited mechanical knowledge i'm scracthing my head.

where was the filter.as a lot seem to have two fitted one just after the tank and one in the engine bay(not needed) also you could well of sucked sh*te from the tank into the carb..

Have changed filter next to tank only,did remove pancake filter thingy and there was a bit of crap in the carb,do i have to strip it down or flush it out somehow?

If you undo the rubber petrol pipe from the pump to the carb and stick it in something then turn the engine over you should get petrol pumping out inot the bottle attached to the hose. If not then you know the problem is most likely a blockage further back - souns unlikely though. As well as the orinary in line fuel filter the pierburg carb also has a very small, plastic meshg type filter approx 5mm diamter which is recessed into the metal fuel inlet pipe, if you very carefully use a pin or something and a torch to look inside that pipe and carefully prise it out you may find it is crudded up. Otherwise, I suggest that you could carefully take the top of the carb, mind the gasket and may need cleaning, and /or take out the jets and blow through. Good luck.

Bet fuel pump wants priming. If mine runs out of petrol, it won't restart and I end up tipping a drop of petrol down one of the carbs. That is usually enough to get the pump primed and it running 

Mmm what's that strange smell from my exhaust...
