Re: Clutch cost?
Clutch kit (inc thrust bearing) from GSF is £89.50
took me 4 hours without problems so I guess that depends on garages hourly labour rates
DIY is cheapest

Re: Clutch cost?
£90 for the clutch GSF and approx 2.5 hours labour at £45 plus Vat ....around £225 all in.

As the guys have said EXCEPT if things turn ugly on the clutch hydraulics (early or late ?) or CV bolts .... it might be a suitable opportunity to change those cheesy head CV bolts while you have them out (M8 x 50mm 12.9 socket head capscrews x 12 off).

Re: Clutch cost?
I paid just shy of £400 to have mine done (including clutch from Mr Baxter for about £100 delivered) , but it's a Syncro so yours should be a bit cheaper - less stuff to remove etc. Do you have a garage that you trust to do it? don't go to a "Kwick" type place as they won't understand where everything is on your van.
E D I T..
Forgot to say that included getting some new bits from Aiden too, as once the housing was off.....

Re: Clutch cost?
note if this is a syncro double the labour time for removing engine protection, prop, difflock, starter connections etc...

Re: Clutch cost?
Mine has reached the point where even the pressure of an ant on the clutch pedal will disengage the engine so will be replacing mine straight after Christmas before I find myself stranded. Chickenkoop's is worse than mine, revving as soon as you apply any power on an upwards gradient. Not a difficult job to do at home but horrible time of year to be doing it and a dirty job for sure.
At 50+ I'm starting to muse the option of paying someone else to do it but at twice the cost I'll suffer the aches and pains and do it myself. Always an opportunity to get at areas you normally couldn't with gearbox in anyway.
By the way, will a DG 1.9 in an 84 5-speed Caravelle definately be a 228mm clutch or is there any chance of it being any other size? Worth asking since I don't want to pick one up in Cov and sail down to Suffolk only to find its wrong size....
