1Y help!

Post by ebe »

Right, Got my 1Y engine in the garden and the old CS engines right next to it. Ive stripped the CS of all the bits we'll need, and give them a good clean. Then on to sorting out th 1Y. Ive removed all the bolts holding the sump on, but it wont come off and I don't want to force it. Is there anything im missing?? It is lose but its like there's something else holding it on. The CS sump just fell off. Do I need to remove the clutch and fly wheel first? or should it come off with these still attached?

Dont worry the 1Y sump has a diffrent gasket to the 1.6n CS engine. It has a steel tray included with the sump gasket. This acts as a baffle to keep the engine oil from sloshing & frothing. You will need to lever off the sump carefully & wiggle it away as the tray catches the internal oil pump.

The only things you will damage (not that you will) are the gasket or the oil pump (which you wont be using anyway)...

Good luck.
