Free camping...nearly

While surfing t'net I came across this website http://www.motorhomestopover.co.uk/index.asp for £30 a year you can camp for free at pubs who are members for one night, not a bad idea I suppose, anyone tried this?

Have never been turned down at rural and small village pubs when we've asked if we could spend the night if you eat and/or have a few pints if not serving food.

Only know of one time a pub said no to anyone I know of. They drove a few miles to another pub.

Absolutely,I have never been turned away at any pub and prefer to go to those of my choosing.
This club was started a couple of years ago by I believe a pub landlord and I said then that some pubs would be taken over by people having an orange juice then going back to their camper and fridge.
Why pay £30 when it can be done for free.

I have wildcamped for 40 years - why use a pub car park at all? Plenty of other places to get your head down especially in a T25. I have to choose a bit more carefully with my 4.5 ton merc but still only wildcamp.

Ive never tried wild camping before, might give it ago are there any rules or laws ect I need to know about or is it just a case of park up somewhere nice and enjoy a quite night.

Just park up sensibly, don't cause a nuisance, leave behind only tyre tracks. I tend not to stay in any one place more than a couple of nights. Might be worth looking at http://www.wildcamping.co.uk. This site is getting taken over by flash bu**ers with big motorhomes and just talk about tea and biscuits but some are still true wild campers.

last year drove on really late and stopped over at a free camp.

woke up in an apple orchard. . dont recomend that but i hate paying to stop over anywhere. the wife is the opposite so i have to keep her happy too.

Borrowed our friends T25 last year for weekend, fri night stopped up on whitbys abby for night! went into whitby few beers fish and chips then quiet night up on abby. woke in morn to stunning views of whitby! beauitful. there was several other vans parked up by morn. then drove down coast and sat night stayed in car ark on south cliff in scarbough, again over looking the bay wonderful views sat with a take away and glass of wine over looking the bay again there was 2 large motorhomes who stayed in the car park overnight. To be hinest it was this (wild camping) that set us on our way to becoming T25 owners ......


Along with plenty of campsites this summer i certainly will be doing a bit of wildcamping also. at the end of day all that can happen is to be asked to move on! not to much trouble so if asked do so till next spot
