i do empty mine if the temp is forcast to go below -5 deg C. but only because my pump is outside the tank under the van and it is at risk from frost damage, so i take the pump off, which by default emptys the tank........ its the perfect time to do the annual sterilising ceremony upon refill, after the coldness has gone again.

its also stock take time, the annual hunt the rusty tinned food and rotate and restock for the new year......

Storing over winter:
Advisable:
In a perfect world......

1) Take the weight off the tyres and cover the wheels with black bin liners
2) Drain water (waste and fresh)
3) Remove batteries and charge every six weeks
4) Park without hand brake applied
5) Start up and run up to temperature several times over the winter months
6) Store cushions/fabrics away from windows and cold surfaces to avoid mould
7) Use thermal blinds to stop fabrics bleaching with sunlight
8) Check Antifreeze is 40% plus
9) Check washer bottles have a good strong washer fluid mix to avoid freezing
10) Use dehumidifing cystals and containers to lower dampness in the vehicle

No
Advised by the man who fitted it (Dave of Timber Techniques) and has many returned that have blown pumps, as they did not heed the warning :ok

Hmmmm, I've met Dave a few times....nice man... but don't you realise a frozen (seized pump) is just as likely to burn out as a dry one running without water. Besides...why should it burn out without water if it's turned off.

I have no idea.

I did not test mine until it had thawed out.
